Text Slide Type

The Custom Content Text Slide Type is one of 4 Custom Content Slide Types to choose from. This slide type is meant for text only content and is great for large amounts of copy or quotes. Choose a layout, add your content and you are good to go. By far the most straight forward Custom Content Slide Type we have.

Configuration Options:

Choose Layout: You have 3 options to choose from for the layout of the text slide type: Basic, Multi-column and Block Quote. Basic is a pretty standard layout, the title above text and text full width of the slide. Multi-column uses CSS columns to split the copy into 2 columns below the title, this works great in modern browsers that support this feature. Block quote formats the slide into a blockquote format, a large pronounced title, and content that is centered and aligned to the middle vertically in the slide.

Slide Link: Add a URL to the slide, the title by default gets linked, which you can toggle to link the whole slide with in the deck Options.

Title: Set the title of the slide/content.

Copy: Text area with WYSIWYG editor to add and edit your text based content.

HTML Slide Type

The Custom Content HTML Slide Type is one of 4 Custom Content Slide Types to choose from. This slide type is meant for custom HTML written by the user. In most cases, the Custom Content HTML Slide Type can handle shortcodes from other plugins, but this greatly depends on the method in which they have made those available. This slide type is best used in tandem with a custom Lens, this way you can take full advantage of custom styling on a lens level instead of relying on theme style inheritance, which is not accessible in the admin preview.

Configuration Options:

Title: Specify a title for your slide. This title will only be viewable when used with a lens like Classic. The title is not inserted into the Slide content.

Insert HTML: Text area for you to insert your HTML. We use CodeMirror to enable syntax highlighting and formatting to help ease the insertion and editing of HTML content.

Available In: SlideDeck Dev Addon.

Video Slide Type

The Custom Content Video Slide Type is one of 4 Custom Content Slide Types to choose from. The slide type allows you to paste a URL from Vimeo, YouTube, or Dailymotion and then it extracts the metadata and allows you to edit the extracted info. When adding a video, the title, description, thumbnail, and internal video data are captured. The information is then immediately filled in the text areas below the video URL/Chooser and can be edited.

Configuration Options:

Add Video URL: This is a text field where you may add a URL to the video page that you’d like to use the video from. A simple URL such as http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtWez5u8uEg should work fine (short URLs are also supported). When the “Update” button is pressed, the video info and thumbnail should be fetched and filled automatically.

Choose Text Type: You have 3 options to choose from for the layout of the text slide type: Caption, Body Text, and None. These options are quite self-explanatory, but may change slightly depending on the lens being used, and more importantly, the size of the deck in question.

Slide Link: Add a URL to the slide, the title by default gets linked, which you can toggle to link the whole slide within the deck Options.

Title: Set the title of the slide/content

Description: Text area with WYSIWYG editor to add and edit your video description.

Image Scaling: Specify how images are scaled in your SlideDeck:

Do Not Scale Images: Do not attempt to scale images at all. Images will be center aligned on the slide.

Scale Proportionally and Crop: Scale the image so the entire slide area is covered and crop as appropriate. This works for most situations and is the default, but sometimes if your image aspect ratio does not match it may produce odd results.

Scale Proportionally and Do Not Crop: Scale the image so the entire image fits within the slide area. This will show black bars on the sides of the image that do not fit in the SlideDeck’s aspect ratio.

Caption Position: Change the position of the caption overlay for the Caption layout to the top or bottom of the slide.

Body Text Position: Change the position of the body text overlay for the Body Text layout to the left or right side of the slide.

Image Slide Type

The Custom Content Image Slide Type is one of 4 Custom Content Slide Types to choose from. This slide type is meant for mixed image and text content and is great for slideshows, tours, and feature highlights. Choose a layout, choose an image, add your content and you are good to go. The Custom Content Image Slide Type can take images directly from an URL, a new image upload or an existing image in your Media Library.

Configuration Options:

Specify an Image: Your slide’s image content can be pulled from multiple locations:

  • Upload an Image – This will upload an image to your WordPress Media Library and associate it with your slide.

  • Specify a URL – This will take any URL you specify and use it as the slide’s image

  • From Media Library – Specify any image from your Media Library as your slide’s image.

Choose Layout: You have 3 options to choose from for the layout of the image slide type: Caption, Body Text, and None. The caption is the default layout and will display your text overlayed on the image at the top or bottom of the slide as specified with the Caption Position option. The Body Text layout will display your text overlayed on the image taking half the slide area for your text. Body Text is a great layout for slides with a large amount of text. If you do not wish to have any text on your slide, choose the None layout.

Slide Link: Specify an URL to link your entire slide area.

Title: Specify a title for the slide. This will display in your slide’s text area.

Description: Specify a description or any long-form rich text message to display in your slide’s text area.

Preferred Image Size: When uploading images in WordPress, multiple size variations of your upload are created to keep downloads small and prevent the interface from becoming too slow. We try to find the best size automatically within reason so that your images look the best and your SlideDeck operates smoothly. If you wish to override this automatic detection, however, you can specify a size to use here.

This will show black bars to the sides of the image that do not fit in the SlideDeck’s aspect ratio.

Caption Position: Change the position of the caption overlay for the Caption layout to the top or bottom of the slide.

Body Text Position: Change the position of the body text overlay for the Body Text layout to the left or right side of the slide.

This slide type is meant for mixed image, video, HTML, and text content and is great for slideshows, tours, and feature highlights. Choose a layout, add your content and you are good to go. You can also mix up your favorite content sources — including Flickr, Instagram, YouTube, and more — right in the slider.
